Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent saved four early opportunities in a tight third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
